Speaker Biographies
Col. Ed Shames
WWII Colonel Ed Shames was born in Norfolk,
Virginia and was in naval school when the United States entered
World War II. He volunteered for the paratroops in September 1942and
was assigned to I Company in the 3rd Battalion of the 506th
Parachute Infantry, 101st Airborne. Shames then transfered to HQ
company and , after receiving a battlefield commission at Carentan,
joined Easy Company now known as the Band of Brothers a 2nd
Lieutenant after the Normandy invasion in July 1944.
