My name is SSG (ret.) Phillips Casey. I
was born on September 29, 1985. I grew up in Northwest Georgia
where I would enlist in the Army in 2006. I graduated basic
training from Fort Jackson and AIT from Fort Sill. I spent all
my time in 1/320th FAR, 2nd BCT, 101st Airborne. I
deployed to Iraq from October 2007 to November 20
08.
I deployed to Afghanistan in June 2010 and was injured on March
9, 2011. I knelt down on an IED during a night patrol with my
squad immediately losing my right leg well above the knee. I
spent two months in the hospital at BAMC in San Antonio then
another three months a year later. I was medically retired in
November of 2012. In my time in the service I was awarded a
Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Army Accommodation Medal with
Valor, two Army Accommodation Medals, five Army Achievement
Medals, Saint Barbara's Medal, Air Assault Badge, Combat Action
Badge, and the Good Conduct Medal. My unit recieved the
Meritorious, Valorous, and Presidential Unit Citation. I am
married to my wife Natasha for three years, have a daughter
Raegan who is five, and expecting our second girl in December. I
am currently attending Colorado Technical University trying to
achieve a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. We are set to
move into our home in New Braunfels, Texas, on November 23rd
where we will raise our family.
